A School Called Hope:

a documentary about a community of refugees choosing education as the hope for the future of their country.

Within this documentary team, I served as one of the directors and principal editors of this film.

ABOUT THE FILM

Choosing education as their path forward, a resilient community of South Sudanese refugees displaced in northern Uganda band together to build a school from nothing. Their hope hinges on the next generation of South Sudanese to break the cycle of their violent past.

Side Project.

This is a piece I wrote and filmed while I was in the Rhino Refugee Camp in Uganda working on a documentary in 2018. Our team was encouraged to work on personal side projects as we worked together on the larger film project. I wrote and filmed footage, but never got around to putting it together. A few months ago I wanted something to stir up my creativity, and I remembered this unfinished piece... well, it's finished now. I was tempted to rewrite it, but decided it should reflect who I was and what I was seeing during that time.
