Carlos Rising’s Archetype:
80% Dreamer (Innocent)
20% Creator (Artisan)
At first glance, I also thought you might be more of a Lover: looking for connection and intimacy. John Legend popped up in my mind, and it’s funny that he also has a daughter named Luna. But here’s where it gets fun, looking at the deeper layers of your work and the stuff you seem to be attracted to, I think we find more of a dreamer, optimist, idealist, and hopeless romantic.
I think the Innocent is actually the Lover and Caregiver rolled into one. The Lover is more about connection through seduction, the Caregiver is pure service. The Innocent dreams of a love that is unconditional and harmonious.
The first hint was the bicycle. The most obvious answer was the culture of Amsterdam, but you said shows being free, youthfulness and is a mode of transportation that can take you “off road”.
You told me about how Shel Silverstein’s work makes you feel a certain way, and he is actually associated with the innocent. There is whimsy infused in all his work. It’s interesting to note that The Giving Tree is a story of unconditional love and giving, and it’s controversial for some people because they see this kind of giving as naive and not having boundaries. But the story is about an ideal form of love. The innocent falls within the quadrant of those “Yearning for Paradise”. There is always longing, yearning, dreaming and hoping of a better love, more peace, a good future, dreams achieved, etc.
Then you sent me that mood board with Wes Anderson and his films often have a certain naïveté, charm, and simplicity beneath their artistic complexity. There’s an optimistic, idealistic view of the world, and there’s a sense of childlike wonder in many of Anderson’s characters and storylines. Whether it’s the quirky characters searching for love, friendship, or personal growth, there's often a sense of purity and vulnerability in their journeys, no matter how absurd or eccentric their circumstances are.
Key Elements: Optimism, nostalgia, simplicity, purity, and childlike wonder.
Characters in Anderson’s films often display a sense of earnestness, even when involved in fantastical or absurd situations. Their journeys tend to be about growth, discovery, and maintaining a sense of wonder despite the complexities of life. (This absurdity is also found in Silverstein’s work.
Both Wes Anderson and Shel Silverstein also carry the Creator.
Someone that’s mostly Creator is someone like Jacob Collier: a musician’s musician, shows little intricacies, all his Logic projects that he breaks down, somehow his behind the scenes still preserves his magic.
Other musicians that fit the innocent/dreamer vibe: Jack Johnson, Norah Jones, Phil Collins
I looked through your lyrics and the captions you write: (perhaps the tik tok guy in the woods is about escape? and escape that seems like a sort of paradise?)
Runaway Train: I’m looking for an escape … I got my suitcase, trying to find a new place to start over… I’m not going through a crisis, I’m just a little behind
I’m not sad
I’m just living
I’m not mad
I’m just drifting
‘Cause I’ve been looking for love
In all the wrong places
Finding disappointment in
All their faces
I’ve made a mistake
And now I’m drifting
Escape the Horizon
Again, here we have a leaning toward simplicity, authenticity, no corruption.
The kind of songs for covers you tend to choose give off the optimistic, dreamer, utopian vibe:
Lovely Day
Here comes the sun
Watermelon Sugar
Love is a beautiful thing
You’ve got a friend
What a wonderful world
A few notes from others
The Innocent
Unbridled sense of wonder. Purity. Freedom from preconceptions. Trust. Unconditional love. Spontaneity. Honesty. Wholesomeness.
The eternal optimist, this archetype’s glass is always half full. The Innocent lacks guile and corruption, and it seeks the promise of paradise. In its most powerful expression, the Innocent embodies a sense of oneness and renewal, representing inner peace and acceptance. Anything is possible, everyone is ultimately good, and we all deserve to lead joyful, love-filled lives.
Joy and Harmony: The Innocent’s number one goal is happiness. That’s what they want for themselves and for everybody else, villains often included
Negative Qualities
They’re naïve: Other characters are often burdened with the responsibility of being the grown-up and protecting the Innocent.
They’re easily disappointed: The Innocent archetype believes so strongly in human goodness and happy endings that they’re crushed when confronted with harsh reality.
They take foolish risks: When an Innocent considers diving off a cliff into a river, they’re only thinking about the wind in their hair, not the rocks beneath the water.
They resist change: Everything in their world is wonderful. The people are perfect and the weather is beautiful. Anything that might challenge or change this picture is unwelcome.
They’re masters of denial: This character does not care to see the complexity of the obstacle or the flaws in their friend. As a result, they have an obnoxious tendency to downplay the struggles of others. They can also be endlessly loyal to someone who doesn’t have their best interests at heart.
Greatest Fears
Rocking the boat: We’re all about harmony, remember?
Punishment: The Innocent does not like getting into trouble.
Rejection: Relationships are everything to this archetype. The thought of being abandoned is absolutely terrifying.
Disappointing others: The Innocent wants to experience joy and spread joy. It breaks their heart to think they’ve failed.
A few lines from your press:
“True love is effortless and uncomplicated”
“It is a gut feeling that eliminates doubt”
“Heartfelt and hopelessly romantic love letter”
Maybe your message to the world as an artist is about never losing the sense of wonder. You walk us through all the sadness when dreams don’t come true and are difficult, and you help us hope again, and dream new dreams.
You share your dreams and take us on the journey, but not in a “Just Do It” Nike vibe, but in a Wes Anderson character way: they go through all kinds of hopes and disasters, and there’s actually a lot of disappointment, but in the end they find catharsis without giving into cynicism or delusion. They find acceptance, some form of happiness or a new dream.
Being rejected from being a dish washer, this isn’t a rags to riches story, tell us how to hold on to dreams and dance with them in the dark.
Is Amsterdam the paradise you yearn for? Are you taking us into the longing to find home, inspiration, love…? There’s still the Creator personality to add to this which will bring the sophistication you seek for the vibe. But overall, this is the story pattern I see in you. And this is how others may connect to you in a powerful way.
